Wednesday, August 17, 2011    12:01 am

Pan Tilt and Zoom or the commonly known as the PTZ cameras are high tech security surveillance cameras that are used by big business establishments and by the government as well. These PTZ cameras are so high end that only the rich people can afford them. Have you ever seen or watched the series, CSI or Criminal minds? They use PTZ cameras to apprehend culprits that are caught by these types of cameras.

The special features of the PTZ cameras are its ability to Pan, Tilt, and zoom in at distances of 300 yards and more. It can easily focus on a license plate or even the face of a passerby surrounded or engulfed in a crowed. It is because of these special abilities that law enforcers are able to catch bad guys easily. Once an intruder is caught on camera with this special kind of security surveillance camera, the law enforcers will not have a hard time at identifying the intruder since you can easily zoom in on the recorded tape and focus on the face of the intruder.

Equipments such as PTZ cameras are highly dynamic. They are expensive to buy as well as to operate. This type of security system requires security personnel to operate them.

The easiest way to use the PTZ cameras is by using a keyboard and a joystick which the security personnel will use. Another way to control PTZ Camera is by using security DVR software. Its software toggles up, down, right and left, which makes it easier to control with just a simple click on your mouse. Another way to control the PTZ cameras is by using a remote. The experience would be like changing the channels at your house but will differ in a way that you get to control the cameras to pan and tilt and zoom as well.

They key to this high end camera is its high definition zoom lens. It can zoom in up to 300 yards and more. However, if you zoom in at maximum limit it may give distorted images. One of its unique features is its ability to ‘auto-track’.
You do not have to worry about low light areas because the PTZ Camera has a low lux setting which enables the camera to capture and display clear images located at low lighted areas. The higher the lux rating, the higher the light amount needed for it to capture clear images. Therefore, low lux means needing less light.
